Personal letters, financial and legal papers, and printed items of Edward F. Davis and his family, the Grange Store, Baton Rouge Cooperative Association, and Thomas B. Brown, one of Davis' business partners in the Grange Store. Personal letters consist of photocopies of two letters from Davis' mother, Elizabeth G. Davis (1821-1899) from 1856 and 1862 pertaining to her visit to relatives in Virginia and conditions in East Baton Rouge Parish, La. during the Civil War, respectively. Also included is a photocopy of an undated letter to Edward F. Davis from Sarah G. White (1833-1914), whose second husband was Thomas B. Brown. Financial and legal papers (1876-1879) consist of promissory notes, ledger sheets, account statements, the auctioneer's statement for the Grange Store's liquidation, a minute book from the Baton Rouge Cooperative Association (1876-1879, 1886) containing meeting minutes and ledger sheets for items sold. Thomas B. Brown's financial and legal papers (1868-1878, 1898) consist of promissory notes, receipts from the sale of cotton, a receipt for payment of state taxes, a note correcting commission on the sale of cotton, and an instrument of protest demanding payment of a bill. Printed items consist of Edward F. Davis' death notice dated 1899.

He along with several partners formed the Grange Store and the Baton Rouge Cooperative Association which operated under the auspices of the Order of Patrons of Husbandry, also known as the National Grange.
